Dining Room Reveal!!

Cream table with navy blue chairs - fall table setting

I am beyond excited to share this dining room reveal with you all! So excited in fact, that I have had a terrible time trying to decide what order to even put all these pictures in. I love the way this turned out and every picture is just making me fall in love with it even more.

This makeover has been a long time in the making, I have been sharing little sneak peeks of the progress on Instagram. I had a picture in my head of how I wanted this space to look and feel, but finding each of the elements to get it just how I wanted took me a little longer than I anticipated.

Here is a look at the space before. I am in the process of changing our home's colors from a warmer palette to a cooler one; getting rid of the reds, oranges and dark browns, for blues, greens and grays. And there was a lot of wood tones going on in this space, the table, bench, chairs, trim, storage cabinets and kitchen cabinets. Too much!

Here is the last look at our oak table before I got to work on it with a Rustoleum Furniture Transformations Kit. (By the way, this kit was awesome and I highly recommend it. And Rustoleum has no clue who I am, I just like their product.) Here are the details for the table transformation.

Line-up of the chairs awaiting their dates with a few cans of spray paint. I purposely chose two different types of chairs for our space. I love the look of mismatched chair styles around the table, they just needed a common color to tie them together for a more cohesive look.

And now, the big reveal! Ta-da!! Isn't it gorgeous?! I'll give you a moment to take it in, and then we can look more closely at the details.

Pretty big difference, huh? I looooove it! I think the thing that makes me smile the most is the navy blue chairs. They add a perfect bright punch of color that is unexpected in this space, especially on the traditional style dining room chairs. (This is the paint I used.)

The table is now a subtle standout piece in this space. The details on the pedestal are more noticeable now, and the overall finish is exactly what I was looking for on this table. Some people probably can't believe that I would paint this oak table, it is a great table, but the finish just wasn't the look I wanted for this space and with the update, it will be perfect for my family for many years to come.

Here is the icing on the cake with the room makeover; curtains for under $10! I have been searching and searching for curtains for this room, and could not find anything I was willing to commit to. Then on a random trip to Target I found a set of Twin XL sheets on clearance that were perfect. I just cut them right down the middle (conveniently there was a nice folded crease to follow), then used Heat N Bond on the single unfinished edge on each curtain, and then clipped them up with curtain rings. Couldn't have been easier!

I love, love, love the new look of our dining room. It has lightened and brightened up the space and is a much better reflection of our style.

So, would you be brave enough to paint any of your furniture a stand-out color? What color would you pick?
